Devise Product Realization Hub is an innovative program focused on assisting manufacturers and suppliers with product development and ISO training. The program is helping regional manufacturers and startups develop and scale medtech products. The biomedical industry, located on the El Paso - Juárez border is one of the main beneficiaries of this program. Devise was launched by the MCA Innovation Center in collaboration with Bio El Paso - Juárez, Fab Lab El Paso, and the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center (TMAC) Paso Del Norte.

Devise Product Realization Hub will be able to provide benefits to the region by growing the innovation ecosystem and increasing the breadth of locally manufactured MedTech products. Devise will support companies with design and regulatory approval of medical products that will strengthen the regional MedTech industry.

Benefits of the Devise Product Realization Hub program

The development and fabrication of new products will establish the medical device industry as a major economic driver in the region. Devise, in conjunction with the growing MedTech industry will foster new innovations and entrepreneurs. The Devise Product Realization Hub, funded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration, will provide assistance throughout the life cycle of a product, from ideation to production. Services will include community training, design and prototyping, and quality control implementation for established manufacturers.

The Services offered by Devise includes:

• Product development services from early concepts to functional prototypes and anything in between.
• Training classes focusing on project management, ISO standards, and implementation, and lean manufacturing
• Support for regulatory approval

The global biomedical industry has grown exponentially over the past few years, especially given the recent global pandemic and supply chain constraints. The El Paso-Juarez region is one of the largest exporters of medical products to the United States. However, the legacy manufacturers in the region need to explore new horizons to remain competitive on a global scale. Engaging with Devise Product Realization Hub will provide resources to innovate and expand product offerings for legacy manufacturers.
