COVID-19

Most communities across the world have an urgent need for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for healthcare workers and other medical devices and supplies essential to the COVID-19 response such as ventilators, and El Paso is no exception. Hospital and health networks fighting on the front-lines of the El Paso’s COVID-19 response face immediate shortages of the equipment necessary to keep them safe from contagion while caring for our community and anticipate shortages of ventilators for patients.

We recognize that necessity brings innovation, and there are many creative people who are designing and fabricating alternatives to commercially-available N95 masks, face shields, test swabs, and ventilators. While all of us desire to get solutions in the hands of our healthcare workers as quickly as possible, we want to do the best we can to ensure these alternatives are providing a known level of safety and reliability. We also want to assist in helping people to identify the most promising solutions with respect to both safety and potential production capacity.

BIO El Paso-Juarez has established the Localizing and Marketing the PPE Supply Chain for El Paso Growth Program to assist in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
